CARBON STEEL TANKS

CARBON STEEL TANKS

We design and manufacture carbon steel tanks with capacities from 1 to 200 m³ for storage of water, fuels, chemicals, digestate / wastewater and various process media. Configurations can be vertical or horizontal, installed on support legs or a structural frame. On request we supply thermal insulation, heating/cooling jacket, agitators and process connections according to the P&ID specification. The tank design and coating system are adapted to the medium and environmental conditions.

Each tank is delivered with complete technical documentation: material certificates EN 10204 3.1, welding log and test reports. Welded joints are examined by NDT methods (VT/MT or PT on request), and the shell is subjected to hydrostatic pressure testing. For internal linings we also perform holiday testing (coating porosity detection) when required.

Heating / cooling jacket Heating/cooling (half-pipe, coil or channel jacket) for water, steam or thermal oil; designed according to required operating regime
Insulation Mineral wool or PU foam; outer cladding in galvanized sheet or stainless steel, depending on ambient conditions
Mixing Anchor or propeller agitators; low-speed or high-speed; drive with frequency converter – dimensioned according to viscosity and process requirements
Corrosion protection / coating Blasting to Sa 2.5 (ISO 8501-1); multi-layer coating systems (e.g. zinc-rich primer / epoxy intermediate / polyurethane topcoat). Internal linings: epoxy / chemical-resistant coatings according to medium specification (DFT according to system).
Testing VT + MT/PT of welds; hydrostatic test; tightness test; holiday test of internal linings (if specified)
Documentation EN 10204 3.1 certificates; welding log; NDT and hydrotest reports; coating protocol (DFT records)
Standards / reference Design according to customer specification; on request we design and manufacture in line with EN 14015 / API 650 (atmospheric storage tanks)
Typical applications
  • Storage of water, diesel/fuel, heating oil and chemical feedstocks
  • Digestate, waste and process water, sludges
  • Buffer tanks and thermal storage (with heating/cooling jacket)
  • Integration into existing process lines and pump/measurement stations

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – CARBON STEEL TANKS

The standard range is 1–200 m³. Dimensions (diameter/height or length/diameter), vertical or horizontal orientation and type of supports (legs/frame) are adapted to the available space and process. Larger capacities are possible on request.

We typically use S235JR / S355 (EN 10025) for atmospheric tanks and P265GH / P355GH (EN 10028) where elevated temperatures/pressures are expected. The final selection depends on the stored medium, operating temperature and tank design.

Yes. Surface preparation is performed by blasting to Sa 2.5, followed by multi-layer coating systems (for example zinc-rich primer / epoxy intermediate coat / polyurethane topcoat). Internal linings are epoxy or chemical-resistant systems selected according to the process medium. We keep detailed DFT records and, when required, perform holiday testing of the internal coating.
